The Hens
Please see the house rules regarding the hens. Any harassment, or handling without the owner present is grounds for the immediate forfeit of your stay. That said, if you would like fresh eggs left in your refrigerator or would like to pet one of the chickens, please send a chat through the Airbnb app and we will try to accommodate.
Note: eggs can only be provided seasonally and if available. Chickens don't lay eggs naturally in the colder months and winter. Commercial egg corporations use artificial means to make hens lay year-round, but we let the girls take a break when it's cold out.
A treat box can be found hanging from their pen with their healthy chicken treat in it. If you would like, you can toss a little treat over the top of the fence or through it and they will be quite pleased! They've actually become quite the little beggars.

Hawkhens
Hawkhens was born in Spring of 2022 and she is an Easter egger which is any hybrid or mixed-breed chicken created by breeding a bird carrying the blue-egg gene with one that lays brown eggs. Eggs from such a bird may be any shade of blue or brown, or occasionally pink or pale yellow. Hawkhens eggs are paler brown and sometimes have a light green tint to the shell.
Hawkhens has beautiful Hawk colored feathers, hence her name

Curiosity
Curiosity was also born in Spring of 2020 and she is a buff Orpington who lays brown eggs. She was named after the Mars rover (Lowel observatory keeps us inspired) but she lives up to her name by curiously inspecting new changes. She is usually the first to come to the fence to see who is there. She is the sweetest chicken to handle and seems to like being held.

New Chicks
Hawkins and Curiosity need more company. Chickens like to be a part of the flock so we have new babies this year.
(Saphire Princess's and Astrolops!)
Unfortunately, the term "pecking order" came from chickens, and it will take some patience and time before they are big enough and can be introduced slowly before they can be seen from the suite. We anticipate late summer of 2025. We are still thinking of names and are open to suggestions!
